award listing for the 2010/2011 academic year.
In general, these scholarships for USF engineering students are contingent upon full time enrollment in
degree applicable courses. Students are encouraged to apply by March 1st, 2010. To apply online,

The engineering scholarship program makes a profound difference in the educational experience of recipients
by providing financial support and recognizing their exceptional efforts, accomplishments and contributions
to the academic community.

Aboly Hagan Scholarship
This scholarship provides support for Engineering students of “exceptional merit and
high quality” who have demonstrated leadership skills. GPA requirement is 3.5 or above.
Allan R. Gondeck Scholarship
This scholarship provides support to Electrical Engineering students.
American Society of Civil Engineers – West Coast Branch Scholarship
This scholarship provides support to a full time junior, senior or graduate
Civil and Environmental Engineering students who have maintained a GPA of 3.0 or greater. Must have
demonstrated leadership qualities in ASCE and been active in community service.
American Society of Highway Engineers - Tampa Bay Section Scholarship
This scholarship provides support to full time seniors in Civil and Environmental Engineering.
Priority should be given to students who have held leadership positions and who have shown community
involvement. Must be a Florida resident with a GPA of 3.2 or greater and financial need.
Association of Facilities Engineers Scholarship
This scholarship provides support for incoming freshmen with a minimum high
school GPA of 3.0 and financial need. Must have a declared intended major of Chemical Engineering, Civil
Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Mechanical Engineering; preference to
students of the Central Florida area.
Balter Family Scholarship
This scholarship provides support for full time junior or senior level
undergraduate engineering students who are active in professional societies.
Bayside Engineering Scholarship
This scholarship provides support to junior or senior Civil and Environmental
Engineering students who have maintained a GPA of 3.0 or greater and who have financial need;
recipients must have strong volunteerism (or employment of over 15 hours per week) and leadership skills.
B. E. Ross Fellowship
This scholarship provides support to full time Civil Engineering graduate students with a 3.5
or higher GPA. Candidate must have research in water resources, water quality or coastal hydraulics.
Note: A statement of research investigation will be required when applying for this scholarship.
CAE USA Scholarship
This scholarship provides support to Computer Science, Electrical or Mechanical
Engineering students who are at the sophomore level or higher, have maintained a GPA of 3.5 or higher
and have financial need. Students must have spent the last two years of high school at a high school
located in Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Hernando, Polk or Manatee County.
Civil Engineering Faculty Staff Scholarship
This scholarship provides support to students in the Civil and Environmental
Engineering Department with a minimum 2.75 GPA.
College of Engineering Alumni Society Scholarship
This scholarship provides support to full time undergraduate engineering students
who have demonstrated leadership abilities, high academic achievement. Priority consideration is given to the
children or grandchildren of USF College of Engineering alumni with a minimum GPA 3.0 or higher.
College of Engineering Faculty Staff Scholarship
This scholarship provides support to engineering staff members or children
of engineering faculty and staff.
College of Engineering Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship provides support to Engineering students with priority to juniors
and seniors with a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
Dolores Garcia-Luckett Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship provides support to full time female engineering students who have
maintained a GPA of 3.5 or higher and who have financial need.
Edgar W. Kopp Memorial Scholarship
This prestigious award recognizes a full time junior, senior or graduate student
who has been enrolled in the College of Engineering from the freshman year and has financial need.
Requirements include high academic and moral standing, extracurricular activity and sense of professionalism.
Candidate should be active in professional, technical, and student organizations.
Engineering MATRIX Scholarship
This scholarship provides support to juniors or seniors in Mechanical, Electrical
or Chemical Engineering. Must have a minimum 2.5 GPA and be a resident of Hillsborough, Pinellas or Pasco County.
Florida Association of County Engineers & Road Superintendents Scholarship
This scholarship provides support to full time juniors and seniors in Civil and
Environmental Engineering. Must be a US citizen and Florida resident with a GPA of 3.0 or greater and financial
need.
Florida Suncoast American Concrete Institute Scholarship
This scholarship provides support to Civil and Environmental Engineering full time
undergraduate students with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
Franz Mantini Scholarship
This scholarship provides support to Engineering students that have a 2.5 GPA or greater and
have been involved in extra-curricular activities.
Fred L. McGee Scholarship in Structural Engineering
This scholarship provides support to full time junior or senior civil engineering
students who are US citizens or permanent residents with a minimum GPA 2.75 or greater. Priority given to Florida
residents.
General Dynamics Ordinance & Tactical Systems Scholarship
This scholarship provides support for minority engineering students.
George Anderson McCowen Scholarship
This scholarship provides support to US born undergraduate students in the
College of Engineering.
Glenn & Joyce Burdick Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship provides support to senior engineering students who have expressed
an interest in pursuing a graduate engineering degree from USF. Must have also maintained a GPA of 3.5 or
higher and have shown a high level of involvement in the engineering profession and a demonstrated history
of overall leadership. Demonstrated involvement in extracurricular activities both within the University
and external from the University or have a high degree of family responsibility is also a consideration.
HDR Engineering Civil and Environmental Scholarship
This scholarship provides support to full time junior or senior Civil and Environmental
Engineering students with strong leadership, community service records and a minimum GPA of 3.2.
Honeywell Hispanic Scholarship
This scholarship provides support to full time Hispanic ethnicity engineering students with
a minimum GPA of 2.5.
Howard and Mary Curren Endowed Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship provides support to sophomore or junior Civil Engineering students
who are currently employed while enrolled in classes and have a 2.5 GPA or higher.
HSA Environmental Scholarship
This scholarship provides support to civil engineering students with strong
financial need.
Indeevar and Srinath Memorial Scholarship
This memorial scholarship supports full-time or part-time graduate students in the
College of Engineering with demonstrated financial need. Candidates must have demonstrated characteristics
such as helping fellow students, participation in social service, courteous demeanor. Students are to submit
a one-page document outlining these characteristics at the time they apply for this scholarship.
John J. Desmond Jr. Mechanical Engineering Scholarship
This scholarship provides support to Mechanical Engineering students with preference
given to graduates of a Florida community college. Secondary preference is given to ROTC participants or those
with military experience. Recipients should be well rounded with demonstrated leadership ability. Restricted
based on a combination of merit and financial need. Full time or Part time currently enrolled undergraduate
students.
John J. Desmond Jr. MSEM Scholarship
This scholarship provides support to full or part time students in the Master of
Science in Engineering Management program. Preference is given to graduates of a Florida community college.
Secondary preference is given to ROTC participants or those with military experience. Candidates should
also be well rounded with demonstrated leadership ability. Restricted based on a combination of merit
and financial need.
Joost Schwaanhuyser Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship provides support to students in the Mechanical Engineering Department
who have maintained an above average GPA and who have provided service to the department and college.
Restricted based on a combination of merit and financial need with an emphasis on service to the
College of Engineering.
Julia & Samuel Flom Scholarship
This scholarship provides support to full time Civil & Environmental Engineering students
with a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
Juan and Maria Gonzalez Scholarship
This scholarship provides support to students in the Mechanical Engineering Department.
Julian W. Silliman Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship provides support to junior or senior Civil Engineering students
with a high GPA and with financial need.
Jürgen Mittmann Scholarship
This scholarship provides support to full or part time Chemical Engineering students
who are in good academic standing and have a substantial financial burden.
Kimley-Horn and Associates Scholarship
This scholarship provides support to Civil and Environmental Engineering students,
who are enrolled full time, are US citizens or permanent residents, with financial need. Candidates must
have internship or co-operative education experience with an engineering company or current employment in
engineering. Priority is given to active members of ASCE or ITE and requires a GPA of 3.0 or greater.
L. A. Scott Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship provides support to students in the Mechanical Engineering Department.
Priority given to students who work while attending school and have a C average (minimum 2.0 GPA).
Louis F. Falcon Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship provides support to undergraduate Hispanic Engineering students
who have maintained a GPA of 3.0 or greater and who have financial need. Special consideration will be
given to those expressing an interest in one or both of the following areas: Total Quality Control and/or
Construction Engineering.
Linda & Ronald Federspiel Book Scholarship
This scholarship provides support to a full time undergraduate engineering student
who is a US citizen restricted based on financial need.
Margaret P. Davis Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship provides support to full time undergraduate or graduate female Civil
Engineering student who has maintained a GPA of 2.5 or higher; priority given to students active in
ASCE.
Michelle Homans Austin Engineering Scholarship
This scholarship provides support for full time junior or senior engineering
student with a 3.2 or higher. Leadership and community service activities are considered. Preference
to females.
Mozelle Beverly Scholarship
This scholarship provides support to a College of Engineering student with financial
need and a GPA of 3.0 or greater.
Peter R. Brown Fellowship
This scholarship provides support to graduate students in the College of
Engineering who are US citizens with academic merit and financial need with a minimum of 3.5 GPA.
Procter and Gamble Scholarship
This scholarship provides support to minority engineering students who are incoming
first year students or entering transfer students and have maintained a GPA of 3.0 or greater.
Q Motor Sports Family Racer Scholarship Program
Scholarship applicants must document involvement in a motorsports racing venue as
competitive drivers or work on race car projects. Students must be traditional college age and degree
seeking. Minimum GPA 2.5
Richard Bowman Jr. Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship provides support to Chemical Engineering and Chemistry students at USF.
R. Kelly Clark – Tau Beta Pi Scholarship
This scholarship provides support to outstanding full time undergraduate engineering
students who are active members of Tau Beta Pi.
Richard Ian Stessel Memorial Fellowship in Environmental Engineering
This scholarship provides support to full time Civil and Environmental
Engineering graduate students working in the environmental area with a 3.5 or higher GPA. Special consideration
is given to students working on a solid waste project.
Robert J. Wimmert Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship provides support to students in the Industrial and Management
Systems Engineering Department who have maintained a GPA of 2.0 or greater, are US citizens, and are
involved in student or community activity.
State Representative Rob Wallace P.E. Scholarship
This scholarship provides support to Civil and Environmental Engineering students who
are enrolled full time, who have maintained a GPA of 3.0 or greater, and are residents of the Tampa Bay
area; with primary emphasis on leadership and financial need.
Stefan Czerkas Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship provides support to engineering students who have maintained a
GPA of 2.5 or above. Priority is given to students with previous or current involvement with the
Boy Scouts of America.
TECO EXPO Scholarship
This scholarship recognized the contributions of an EXPO officer who
has used EXPO to build leadership skills to serve the engineering profession and has a 2.5 GPA or higher.
Thomas E. and Ann C. Wade Scholarship
This scholarship is designated for full time seniors and first year graduate students
who are members of Tau Beta Pi. Students should be completing an engineering BS degree at USF and will be
attending the first year of graduate school in engineering at USF. Restricted based upon a combination
of merit and financial need.
URS Scholarship
This scholarship provides support to scholarship support to students in the
Civil and Environmental Engineering Department. Priority is given to students interested in consulting/design
or in water resources, structures or transportation; preference given to children/grandchildren of URS
employees.
Vanus Engineering Scholarship
This scholarship supports full or part time undergraduate Civil and Environmental
Engineering students who are Florida residents and are active in Community service.
Water Reuse Florida Scholarship
This scholarship supports a full time rising junior or senior full time student with
a GPA of 2.8 or higher with expressed interest in pursuing a career in water resources, water reuse, water
supply, treatment or desalination. Candidates must have the recommendation of faculty and the department
chair and a research project or topic that is germane to the issues facing water reuse or desalination.
Experience such as an intern position, in the water reuse or desalination field is a plus.
Wayne & Iris Echelberger Scholarship
This scholarship provides support to a sophomore, junior or senior student at
USF who is majoring in Civil Engineering, with a strong specialty interest in the
area of Environmental Engineering. The recipient should be involved in extracurricular activities, particularly
the Student Chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Additional extracurricular activities
may include: music groups, fraternity/sorority affiliation, and other College/Department professional groups
and/or campus activities. The recipient should have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 and be making satisfactory
progress towards completion of a degree.
William “W-Dot” Smith Scholarship
This scholarship provides support to full time students in the Mechanical Engineering
Department. Priority is given to students with interests in thermal sciences.
Wilson Miller Scholarship
This scholarship provides support to juniors in Civil and Environmental Engineering.
Candidates must be US citizens and Florida residents with a GPA of 3.0 or higher and financial need.
