Procedure for Students who have Missed
the College of Engineering Graduation Deadline
...(But have not missed the University deadline):
The College
of Engineering
requires
all
students
to apply for graduation the semester prior to the anticipated
graduation term.
Exception: International students in a PhD
or Master's "thesis" program may
apply two weeks prior to the University Deadline.
- Prepare an explanation as to why the application
is late. The party responsible (student or advisor) for the
late submission should write and sign this letter.
- The Undergraduate or Graduate Coordinator must
certify in writing that the applicant has successfully
fulfilled
ALL graduation
requirements
including
necessary minimum GPA's, required courses, etc. and/or is currently
enrolled in any needed courses.
These statements along with the student's application
will be submitted directly to Engineering Student Services.
Procedures for Students who have Missed the University Graduation
Application Deadline:
Any student who misses the University deadline and wants to
submit a late application in an attempt to graduate that semester
must submit
the above described statements (for missing the College deadline)
to the Associate Dean of Engineering for approval. Students submitting
applications after the University deadline may be subject to a late fee.
NOTE (effective spring 2006): Undergraduate students, who
have not applied for graduation by the day of the university deadline,
must also go to the Cashier’s Office,
pay a $50 late fee, and attach the receipt to their application
forms before our office can process it.
In order to graduate "with honors", a bachelor candidate must have:
- A USF GPA of 3.50 or higher (based on USF courses only)
- An Overall GPA of 3.50 or higher (based on USF and transfer courses combined)
- A minimum of forty credit hours completed at USF
- The Grade Forgiveness Policy cannot be used for meeting the 3.50 GPA minimum
There are three different levels of Honor classifications:
- Cum Laude (3.50 - 3.69)
- Magna Cum Laude (3.70 - 3.89)
- Summa Cum Laude (3.90 - 4.00)
If you qualify for Honors, your classification will be recorded during the degree certification process.
Students who have placed their records on Privacy with the Registrar's Office who wish to participate and be recognized publicly in the commencement program must notify the Registrar's Office in writing by the fourth week of the degree term.
Graduation certification of your degree is finalized after the commencement ceremony dates. This is due to the necessary period of time that the Registrar's Office needs to post final semester grades and the time the Admissions Office needs to post transcripts. For those students who are participating in commencement ceremonies, a ceremony registration booklet containing ceremony times and dates, cap and gown details and other pertinent information will be mailed to the student's permanent address three weeks following the graduation application deadline.

Profession or Ring Ceremony, please contact Catherine Burton
