Nathan D. Gallant is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of South Florida. Professor Gallant joined the USF faculty in August 2008 following a National Research Council postdoctoral fellowship at the National Institute of Standards and Technology in the Polymers Division. He graduated with a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Cooperative Education Certificate from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1999. He went on to earn M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2003 and 2004, respectively. Professor Gallant's research interests include cellular biomechanics, biomaterials, and tissue engineering. He is an NSF CAREER award winner for his work developing combinatorial biomaterials for mechanobiology.

In support of USF Research Week, the College of Engineering is hosting the 5th Annual Research Day to be held on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 from 9:00 AM until 2PM at the Interdisciplinary Research Building. This exciting event is an open house intended to attract visitors from across the College, USF, and the community, including local industry for information exchange and collaborations.
The event is open to all undergraduate and graduate students and research centers for poster presentations. It features cutting edge research presentations by USF faculty and provides an opportunity for students to network with faculty, fellow students and local industry. It is also intended to attract undergraduates, providing them valuable insight into various multi-disciplinary research activities across the College of Engineering and USF campus.
Top student exhibitors will receive travel awards to present at professional meetings.
Poster registrations start in September.
