Requesting File Restore
 

We have just installed a brand new backup system with a fast tape library. In case you loose an important file in your /home directory, we may be able to restore it from our backup tapes. System wide backups are done each night. The backups are kept for a period of 90 days. Simply use the Engineering Help Desk system on the World Wide Web to request a restore. Click here to request a file restore.

In certain cases we are unable to restore lost files. For example, if you create a new file and lose it before a backup is done that night, the file will not be on our backup tapes. Also, we are unable to backup student email at this time. We always recommend that if you have important messages in your email folders, that you save them to a file in your /home directory where it will be backed up.
