Creating
an Account |
| |
To obtain a computer account, students, faculty, staff and guests must have a valid USF Card. If you do not have a USF Card, students should go to the ID Card Center located in the Marshall Center. Faculty, staff and guests should request a USF Card from their department office.
How to get an enginering account?
Office Managers can apply for an account on behalf of Faculty and Staff of their department by sending an e-mail to Karen Kirby (kirby@eng.usf.edu) with the full name as it appears on the USF ID card, the Social Security Number and the 6400 number off the card. The department will be notified when the account is ready. However, the account must be picked up and signed for in person by the user in ENB 344. No account information will be given out over the phone or through e-mail.

Webmail |

To access your mailbox online goto: https://mailbox.acomp.usf.edu.
IMAP/POP3 outgoing/incoming server name for Outlook
access is mailbox.eng.usf.edu [cofemail.eng.usf.edu
for faculty/staff]. If you are dialing in from your
home computer using an ISP other than USF, you might
not be able to send messages through your ENG account. |

Requesting
File Restore |
| |
We have just installed a brand
new backup system with a fast tape library. In
case
you loose an important file in your /home directory,
we may be able to restore it from our backup tapes.
System wide backups are done each night. The backups
are kept for a period of 90 days. Simply use the
Engineering Help Desk system on the World Wide
Web to request a restore. Point your browser to http://www.eng.usf.edu/helpdesk
to request a file restore.
In certain cases we are unable
to restore lost files. For example, if you create
a new file and lose it before a backup is done that
night, the file will not be on our backup tapes.
Also, we are unable to backup student email at this
time. We always recommend that if you have important
messages in your email folders, that you save them
to a file in your /home directory where it will
be backed up.

Card
access to Labs |
| |
Engineering Computing manages
the card access system in the College of Engineering.
Many of our labs are equipped with card readers
that accept your student or faculty/staff ID card.
If you need access to a particular lab, check with
your department or the department that controls
the lab and ask for access. They will then ask us
to add your card to the system for that particular
door.
If you are a student in
the Department of Computer Science and Engineering
and need access to the CenterFour [C4] lab, send
an email to opers@eng.usf.edu with the following
information: USF ID card number starting with 64**,
SSN, and declaring that you are a computer science
major.
