Our virtual tour offers you a look at the programs, faculty and student life that makes the USF Engineering experience unique. USF is young - less than 50 years old. Yet in that short time, the university has grown to become the 15th largest in the United States. You will benefit from the infinite resources a university of this size offers. We recognize, however, that class size, close contact with professors and a sense of belonging remain important to students. I am proud to say that the College of Engineering offers a community within a community. As a professional college, with 3,000 students (less than 10 percent of the total university population), the College provides students with the benefits of a small college with all the advantages of a major university. Our faculty and staff put Students First! in their efforts to ensure the highest quality educational experience. We care about each student as an individual and strive to provide a first-rate engineering education while demonstrating the importance of service to the community, ethics in the profession and balance in all aspects of life.

The College is composed of six academic departments: Chemical Engineering, Civil & Environmental Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. Each program of engineering is accredited ABET. The Computer Science Accreditation Board (CSAB) accredits the Computer Science program. The College also has several research centers that work closely with the academic Departments. Research is an integral part to a USF engineering education at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Discoveries in our research laboratories quickly find their way to the classroom. Research achievements at USF in recent years contributed to the University's recent designation as a Research I University by the State of Florida. Our faculty possesses high energy, solid experience and outstanding credentials. We seek faculty who brings not only outstanding academic credentials, but also who have industrial experience in their background. This experience helps ensure that lessons in the classroom transfer to real-world situations. The future holds great things for you.
